Lessons
Everyone needs golf lessons, regardless of their skill level. Bad golf habits, are reflected in the swing. You will enjoy the game more if you are playing up to your potential. A good golf swing makes you feel better, not unlike looking good in general. We all want to look good.
Pete Messina learned golf when he was about 10 years old from old Scottish Professional Jock MacKenzie at Sandy Run Country Club near Philadelphia. Jock learned golf in Scotland where he was born. Jock taught Pete everything from shagging balls, caddying, caddy master, to becoming a group instructor. Jock always stressed good form. If a swing looks good, he said, eventually, improved golf will follow. He was right. A good looking swing can be attained only through proper lessons from an instructor who understands the mechanics of the swing. Everyone is different, therefore, every golfer's swing must be adjusted individually. Group lessons are adequate for absolute beginners, however, one-on-one instructions are necessary to fine tune a swing. That is where Pete Messina comes in. Pete is qualified and dedicated to teaching those interested in improving their golf. No guarantee, but there is fairly good chance that after a few lessions, you will feel better about your game and enjoy it even more than you do now. Your choice!

Just about every golfer knows that both V's must be pointed over the right shoulder, but do they also know that the hands should be ahead of the ball at address? Makes a big difference.
There are five laws of ball flight that cause distance and direction.
- Angle.
- Face - open, squared, closed.
- Path.
- Centeredness.
- Club head speed.
From there, it is a matter of geometry. Hitting on a down angle with the driver can result in a short “popup”. Pulling up with an upward angle will result in a topped ball.
An open face causes a slice and a closed face causes a hook.
Going off the flight path will cause you to compensate and come across the ball left/right.
Every half inch off the center of the club results in 20 yards loss.
Clubhead speed is determined not by strength, but by a coordinated swing.
Hitting the ball off center loses 20 yards for every half inch.
Hitting across the path will cause a hook or slice.
You cannot hit the ball with any consistency with a bad grip. You should see 2 knuckles on left hand and the V’s between chin and right shoulder.
Do not grip it too tightly.
Golf is a target game. Just as it is easy to shoot a rifle or hit a golf ball, it is difficult to hit the target.
Learning the five laws of golf can be accomplished by careful practicing on your own, provided you video tape yourself and correct the problems.
Or, you can take lessons from me, Pete Messina. I will detect your swing deficiencies, one-by-one. I will help you to correct the problems, one-by-one. Your golf may get worse after the corrections. The saying "things sometimes get worse prior to getting better" are true with your golf swing. Think about remodeling your home. You tear it down where it looks impossible to fix. But, it gets done with perserverence. You can do it with lessons from the right instructior.
Lady golfers should have a wider stance than men.
